King John put the record straight on a 20-year hoodoo when they took a conclusive victory over old rivals Kennedy.

On a sticky wicket, Kennedy were put into bat and soon paid the price for some over-ambitious strokeplay.

Only two of their side managed double figures, with R Green reaching 21 and S Wakeling making 14.

King John had the excellent bowling of Andy Brooks and Tim Lowes to thank for the destruction of their opponents, taking 4-20 and 5-9 respectively.

In reply, King John reached their total with comparative ease, with Tim Lowes's fine knock of 37 and Dave Goodman's 11 aiding the Thundersley side to victory.

K Sibthorpe took 2-22 for Kennedy.

Chequers were proud to be invited to play in the inaugural game on the new ground of Dorset side The Fox, based at Corscombe, and came home victorious.

The Fox, put in to bat, were all out for 71 with only Mike Collins (19), skipper Dominic Geraghty (18) and Fowler (15) reaching double figures against Chris Tanton (4-11), David Cornwell (2-8), Simon Broad (2-12) and Colin Campbell (2-13).

When Chequers replied they were taken to victory by Simon Broad's unbeaten 20. Dave Cornwell and Graham Kitchener scored 15 apiece.

Tight bowling keeps lid on Little Baddow

Rettendon's opening bowlers Chris Hunt and Lee Harding laid the foundation for this emphatic win by conceding just 47 runs for a wicket apiece from their 24 allotted overs in this Mid Essex Division Six encounter.

Little Baddow never recovered from their slow start and only Harris, with an unbeaten 76, came to terms with Rettendon's attack.

Danny Martin (2-31) and Marcus Plummer (2-20) picked up the late wickets.

In reply, an opening partnership of 122 in just 21 overs from Jon Ro-worth (79) and Pete May-bury (53 not out) carried on where their bowlers left off.

Roworth was in particularly dominant form with eight fours and four sixes in his 78-ball innings.

Rettendon spokesman Colin Hunt said the 22-year-old is relishing his first season as an opening batsman.

A sparkling 123 from opener Mark Robinson, who carried his bat, saw Eversley to a huge total at Holy Cross.

Stand-in skipper Robinson hit a six and 18 fours and got great support from Peter Woods (34 not out) and Phil Parmenter (46).

Harold Wood never looked like getting the required target in this timed match and were bowled out for 110 with Burling scoring 23 and Chafer 22.

Woods took 2-5 in six overs, four of them maidens, while Robinson again led by example with 2-10.

Steve Ward (2-34) and Dave Beadle (2-20) rounded things off.
