A car firm's plans for expansion have led to Basildon being hailed as the "silicon valley for the motor industry".
The thriving district already has Ford's Dunton research and engineering centre, Ford suppliers MSX International and Visteon as residents.
Now RLE International - based in Laindon - is looking to move to and expand on the growing Festival Leisure Park in Pipps Hill.
The company provides vehicle engineering, design and prototype car building skills to Ford and other car manufacturers.
Basildon Council leader John Potter said: "Basildon is almost becoming a mini silicon valley for the motor industry."
The proposed extension, will provide an additional 1,100 square metres of office accommodation.
A total of 70 staff will be employed on the site.
