Football fans went wild with excitement in Pitsea as their team kicked off Euro 2000 on a winning streak.
Drinkers in the specially erected stadium at the Bull pub, London Road, were among the millions county- and country-wide who were behind the England team all the way.
The pub erupted as England scored their first goal - but the celebrations were short-lived.
Viewers were devastated when England's early 2-0 lead turned into a final score of 2-3 to Portugal.
