Burglars have stolen more than £1,300 of cigarettes in two separate incidents at service stations.
The first happened at Rettendon Services on the A130, Chelmsford, when £200 of damage was caused to a glass panel and cigarettes worth £500 was stolen.
The second incident took place at the Esso garage in Maldon Road, Danbury, where the glass front door of the shop was smashed and £800 worth of cigarettes were stolen.
Police believe the two incidents are linked and are asking anyone with information to call South Woodham Ferrers police on 01245 320333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
