A man facing charges including attempted murder in Benfleet, has been remanded in custody until Monday.
Robin Halls, 34, of Victoria Avenue, Southend, appeared before Southend magistrates charged with the attempted murder of his wife Deborah Piper, wounding, and aggravated burglary.
The offences are alleged to have taken place on Saturday at Kingston Way, Benfleet.
He also faced two earlier charges of common assault and threats to kill.
