A charity event has fallen victim to England's Euro 2000 football match against Germany.
Now the film show planned by the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society for this Saturday, has been put back two weeks.
Society spokesman Paul Harding said: "As in all Laurel and Hardy stories there just has to be some disaster or misunderstanding, or as Olly would say: 'Here's another nice mess'."
Mr Harding explained when the branch of the society was choosing dates for its meetings, it seemed a good idea to have a special programme around the anniversary of Stan Laurel's birth.
The nearest appropriate Saturday was June 17 as he was born June 16 in 1890.
Arrangements went ahead for the show at the Manifest Theatre in Oxford Road, Manningtree, with proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Disease Association.
"All was going well until someone noticed another event might have an effect on the numbers attending," said Mr Harding.
Hasty discussions followed and in deference to the fans of both football and Laurel and Hardy, the show will now take place on Saturday, July 1.
