Ronnie Irani's revitalised Essex cricketers are within striking distance of Second Division leaders Worcestershire in the revamped County Championship.
Essex, who go into their latest four-day outing against Glamorgan at Cardiff on Thursday looking for a third successive win, were today (Monday) just ten points adrift of Worcestershire who head the table with 68 points.
Essex are in one-day National League action against the Welshmen at the same venue tomorrow.
