Sunday saw the Ladies and Gentlemen of Regiment Way Golf Centre compete for the Westone Cup which was presented to the club by its first Captain, Graham West and his guest at the club's first Dinner Dance, Derek Stone of Theydon Bois Golf Club.
The winner was a new member, Simon Riches, who won with a score of gross 82, handicap 24 and a six under par net 58. Nicola Pippen came second with her gross 91, h/cap 29 and net 62 beating the past captain Nigel Savage into third spot on countback. Nigel's scoreline was 75, 13, 62.
Chelmsford Golf Club were entertained by Belhus Park Golf Club for a Thornton Cup third round tie.
After the morning foursomes, Chelmsford held a 3-1 advantage after some tight matches.
With 10 singles to go in the afternoon, the main Chelmsford thoughts were on their remarkable recovery in the second round against Enfield, and not to see a repeat by Belhus.
However, although there were several tight games, at one stage, Chelmsford trailed overall, they slowly pulled in the winning matches to eventually win, 9.5-5.5.
The Chelmsford team was Martin Mitchell (captain), Sean Dolton, Simon Gibbings, Paul Connell, Gary Fisher, Matt Sharman, Andy Petts, David Knights, Grant Popham, Mark Lindsey and Keith Davies.
The Mail on Sunday team, under the captaincy of Les Cutbush, entertained Maldon in a fourth round tie.
Played originally on Friday, the course became increasingly wet causing the game to finish in an indeterminate manner.
The tournament director for the Mail on Sunday competition decided to replay the entire match which was completed at the weekend in sunshine, and Chelmsford moved into the next round after winning 3-1.
The Chelmsford team was Simon Gibbings, Paul Connell, Gary Fisher and Andy Petts.
The Ladies have also been in action with hosting two home games, the firs tin the Bronze League, the second in the Silver 2 series.
The Bronze team, under the captaincy of Maureen Quinn, played the last game of their series, against Forrester Park, a game which would have ensured a place in the quarter finals for Forresters if they won.
However Chelmsford spoilt the day by winning 5-2, and leaving Forresters with the hope that their individual match tally will see them through.
The Silver II team played the second of their series against Cannons Brook and Chelmsford made a clean sweep with a 7-0 win.
The Chelmsford team was Eileen Croker (captain), Shirley Beard, Joyce Allison, Brenda, Parsons, Linda Dosset, Sue Vine, Sue May and Diane Robinson.
Chelmsford Golf Club hosted a charity event on behalf of the Endeavour Schools, Brentwood, and £6,500 was raised through the day's events.
Thanks were extended to the day's main sponsors Crest Homes, Bloomberg, Deuste Bank and Eddie Rex.
The event was won by a team from West Essex with 112 points. P. Wraight, P. Taylor, B. Gordon and D. Sedgewick.
The Channels Golf Club's Ladies No 2 Silver Team of Tokito Fletcher, Jenny Hartnett, Elaine Jewitt, Jenny Humphries, Jenny Wheelhouse, Madelain LeMaistre and Doreen Harrowell played host to a Silver Team from the Essex Golf & Country Club but with wins from only Misses Jewitt, Wheelhouse and LeMaistre, the team lost 4-3.
The other event of the week for the ladies was the Ladies Guest Day, which was won by Lynn Fazzani and her guest, G Owens of the Warren Golf Club with 40 points.
Diane Lyons and J Collins of Warley Park GC took the second place on countback with 34 points leaving Pam Petley and her guest from Chelmsford GC, Maureen Pond, to pick up the third prize.
The Front 9 prize went to Ellen Ridgewell and her guest from Braintree GC, Ann Show, as they scored 19 points. Second on the Front 9 were Joan Mitchell and D Thornton of Forresters on 17 points.
The Back 9 was decided on countback from 20 points., Chris Garrett and M Dearmer of Langdon Hills taking the first spot and Sue Watts and Val Cook of Benton Hall (both formerly of Regiment Way) coming in second.
The Three Rivers Golf Club Ladies Section Bronze Team won their match 6-1 against Essex Garon Park.
The morning of the Spring Meeting saw the 'Scratch Prize' won by Elaine Atkin and the 'Handicap Prize' by Ann Fricker.
In the afternoon the 'pairs' competition was won by Denise Irving and Elaine Atkin.
The Matrimonial Trophy, on Monday, was won by Linda and Bob Crisp with Pauline and Mike Allen as Runners up and the 'Odd Couples Trophy', which was played by non-married couples was won by Jennie Wilson and Colin Foreman with Jan Bonard and Larry Wragg in second place.
The Warren Ladies continued their winning streak by recording a 5-2 ELGA Bronze Division win over visitors Crondon Park 5 - 2, thus giving the Warren an overall 4 - 1 division result.
Club Captain Vic Mullins partnered by Vice-Captain Bob Hanlon won the Hollowell Cup, a 4BBB Medal, with a net 65 on countback from Bob Trueman and Dave Walker.
An improvement in the weather, together with the excellent work of Greenkeeper Peter Hurrell and his staff, allowed the Bank Holiday Mixed Chapman's Greensomes Stableford to be enjoyed by over 70 members.
Taking first place were Vera Watkins and Des Orrin with 39 points, closely followed by Ann and John Morley (38 points) who beat Penny Smith and Vince Flanagan on countback.
