The First stage of rollerspeed skating's British Outdoor Championships were held at Wheels Adventure Park in Birmingham, which saw skaters from the South Woodham Ferrers & Wickford Rollerspeed Skating Club, who are sponsored by The Nawab Indian Restaurant, winning 12 medals.
First up on the winners' podium for South Woodham were Sam Morrison, Billy Moore and Jake Watkins, who won gold, silver and bronze medals in the Mini Boys (6-9 years) 1000m race.
Next up was Chanelle Moore, who won silver in the Pupil Girls (10-12 years) 1500m race. Sara Wallis finished fourth out of the seven skaters.
In the Pupil Boys (10-12 years) 1500m race, Jonathan Morrison won the gold medal, while Richard Webb finished fourth, Gary Moore fifth, Jonathan Wallis sixth and Sam Gosling, who got up after taking a fall, eighth, out of ten skaters.
Helen Warlow was the last South Woodham medal winner of the first day, taking silver medal in the Senior Ladies 500m, out of four skaters.
On the second day, the 10 competitors in the Pupil Boys 500m were seeded into two heats. Sam Gosling came second in the first heat , to go into the final, and Jonathan Wallis finished fourth.
Jonathan Morrison won the second heat in a new British record time of 55.63 seconds, breaking the record that had been set by the winner of the previous heat.
Gary Moore was second, with both Moore and Morrison going through to the final. Richard Webb was fourth in this heat.
The final was run, with Moore crossing the line first, only for the referee to call the race void following complaints being made by some other skaters in the final as an error had been made by the lap-board official.
The race was re-run later, with Jonathan Morrision finishing second and Sam Gosling third. Moore finished fifth.
The last medals to be won by South Woodham, were by the Junior Boys (under 17) three man relay team, who raced in a non-championship race over 5000m. The team of Gary Moore, Jonathan Morrision and Mark Smith came second.
