The inaugural first class match at Billericay's Blunts Wall Road ground has got the go-ahead following an outfield inspection by Essex.
The Essex County Board XI were due to meet Warwickshire CCC on June 21 in a NatWest Trophy game.
But the match was under threat because of the heavy rainfall in April and May which left the outfield soggy.
Yet work to improve drainage paid off when the county declared the ground fit to play on.
"It has made all our efforts worthwhile," said club chairman Jon Batson.
Proof of the improvements came on Saturday when Billericay's second XI played their Shepherd Neame League match against Woodford Wells without any problems.
The match also highlighted the cricket square was in perfect condition and up to the standard that first class cricketers expect.
And to make sure the ground stays in tip top condition, the club has already made plans to undertake further work in the winter to ensure a wet outfield will not hinder play in the future.
Billericay are expecting 1,500 spectators for the June 21 game and tickets are now on sale.
They cost £8 for adults and £4 for concessions and are available from the Essex County Ground on 01245 254015.
