Work is likely to begin on Maldon's £2.5 million bowling alley and leisure complex within the next six weeks.
East Hanningfield businessman Michael Kirkham is hoping the first steps for the new complex will be taken in six to eight weeks time once final discussions with council officials have been held.
District councillors have given planning permission for the scheme in Park Drive, which includes a 25-lane ten-pin bowling centre, snooker tables, a restaurant, three bars and a play area for children.
More than 50 full and part-time jobs are likely to be created by the venture, which has the support of the council in bringing more leisure opportunities into the town.
But agreements about the maintenance of the pavements outside the premises and the access from the road must be decided before work can finally go ahead.
The project has also received support from people living in the area who have welcomed the opportunities.
