Braintree BMX Club were delighted that on Sunday at Royston in Round 4 of the Summer Series, their riders took two of the three Rider of the Day trophies.
With 148 entrants it was tremendous that Steven Sewell, nine, and Ryan Everitt, 15, were honoured for their outstanding performances.
There were 16 riders from the Braintree BMX club with Wayne Cadman making his racing debut in the novices also taking a trophy for his sixth place and Kevin Sherwood appearing for the first time in the age 30-39 Cruiser class finishing in a good fourth place in his final.
Chloe Sherwood, six, impressed the crowd with four straight victories and seven year old Matthew Sewell rode superbly to take the second place in his final.
In the well attended nine year olds, Steven Sewell was unbeaten all afternoon with Bradley Watts trying hard to improve on the fifth places with Ashley Hall finishing eighth.
In the 9-12 year old girls, Katie Roberts took sixth place in her final and in the 10 year old boys, Liam Sherwood managed to hold onto fifth place ahead of Liam Vant.
James Barker rode well in the 11 year olds to cross the line first in all four of his races while Jonathan Roberts was cheered on by his supporters to finish in an excellent second position in the 12 year old final.
Racing with much determination, Matthew Barker, 13, took one win in the heats but had to settle for second places in his other races and in the same events. Kelvin Vant rode well but could not better fourth places all afternoon.
The highly competitive 16 year olds races saw Ryan Everitt take two wins in the heats and Alex Humphrey managed one win before they met up in the final with Darren Eastall who had earned his place in the line-up after a second place in a run-off.
The tremendous final had the crowd urging the Braintree riders on as Ryan's early lead looked in danger as he slipped pedals but recovered well to take victory with Alex pushing hard to take third with Darren not far behind in seventh.
The next round takes place at Ipswich on Sunday, June 18.
