The Oulton Park circuit, Cheshire was the scene of an action packed TOCA British Touring Car Championship Spring Bank holiday meeting
Brentwood's Lotus Elise drivers Jonathan Tee and Mark Fullalove were there, both fresh from the previous weekend's rain soaked meeting at Spa Francorchamps, Belgium and looking to gain more championship points.
The Saturday practise got off to a good start with both drivers looking to find the optimum race set-up for the challenging circuit. Tee suffered an engine failure early in the second session costing him valuable track time.
The weather looked increasingly uncertain for the Sunday qualifying and as the 20 race cars were about to leave the assembly area the skies opened up forcing them to return to the pits after only one lap for a change from slicks to wet weather tyres costing valuable track time in what was only a 30 minute qualifying session.
At the end of the session it was Fullalove in eighth position and Tee in 12th.
Race day and, for a change, the grid formed up in sunshine, Fullalove making a good start diving down the outside of Championship leader Edward Horner and ex-British Touring Car Championship driver Paula Cook into Old Hall corner gaining sixth position.
Cook responded aggressively making contact on at least three occasions with Fullalove's car as the lap progressed.
As the leading cars entered the tight right hand Lodge Corner at the end of the lap Cook made an attempt to fend off a hard charging Simon Hill, the result was an 'Elise sandwich' with the impact from Cook spinning Fullalove off the circuit and out of contention.
Tee, meantime, driving well, continued to chase the leading pack by mid race, gaining seventh, only to be forced off the circuit at Cascades by Matt Turner, costing him a place.
At the chequered flag it was Tee eighth, with Fullalove in 11th place after a storming fight back from 18th.
The race was won by Mark Cole with pole position man Adam Wilcox second and Ben Devlin in third place.
Round Six takes place at Silverstone Circuit this Sunday (June 11).
