Helen Parish became the first home grown player to win a title at the Lionel Bass Brentwood Hard Court Junior Open tournament in 11 years when she captured the girls 10 and under singles event last week.
Saturday's finals day was the culmination of the 19th Junior open tournament hosted by the club in Childerditch Lane. Some 200 competitors converged on the club during the week and provided a high standard of tennis.
Young Helen Parish is one of a number of young players being developed by the Brentwood club coach Zoe Truscott.
In the semi-final of the 10 singles she beat Jordane Dobbin 6-0, 6-1 and then in the final beat Francesca Edgeson from Coggeshall 6-1, 6-1.
The win was fine revenge for the previous day she had lost to Francesca in the semi-final of the 12 singles.
One of the clubs up and coming young boys, Daniel Bagguley, was runner-up in the boys 10 singles.
In the final he lost out to Ben Levi from Gidea Park 3-6, 4-6. Ben had beaten Tom Harling in the semi-final.
Peter French from Billericay won the boys 18 singles and doubles titles.
In the singles final he beat Robert Gordon in three exciting sets 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 and then teamed up with Robert to win the doubles against Jon Tremaine and Chris Burney 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
Jon Tremaine from Westcliff was another Essex winner. He won the boys 16 singles with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Jonathon Skinner from Norfolk.
Jo Mayne from Hertfordshire was the successful player of the week winning both the girls 16 and 18 singles.
In the 16 final she beat Jenny Holden from Bedford 6-2, 7-6 and then won the 18's beating previous winner Andrea Cooper (Suffolk) 6-2, 6-2.
Holly Bagshaw from Hertfordshire won the girls 14's with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Colchester's Lucy King.
The tournament had support from a number of local companies including Magnus (Vauxhall), Dragons Health Clubs, NatWest, Court House Clinics and United Sports.
Clearview ladies team have reached the final of the Essex Senior Cup after beating Grove (Chelmsford) 3-0. The Clearview team was Melanie Hall, Catherine Norman, Laura Bain and Kelly Philebrown.
The men's second team lost their Essex semi-final against Woodford Wells II 3-0.
