Horse riders were today celebrating after a bridleway which has been used for years was officially marked with a signpost.
The route on the corner of Coniston Road and Thirlmere Road in Thundersley links Burches Road with Church Road and is well used by riders of all ages in the area.
Castle Point Council put up the sign following a donation from the Castle Point Bridleways Fund.
Marlene Curtis, chairman of the fund, explained it is made up of donations from local riding clubs, individuals and the British Horse Society.
Mrs Curtis said: "We are very grateful to Castle Point Council for putting up the sign as the bridleway is so well used by both adults and children.
"The Pony Club holds its rallies in nearby Woodside Park and many children use the route as a safe way of getting to and from them."
Mrs Curtis added that walkers and cyclists could also use bridlepaths.
