White Ensign took over at the top of the Southend Borough Combination Premier Division when, as they were winning 10-0 at home to Borough Rovers, previous top dogs Southchurch Hall OS were going down 1-0 to bogy side Leigh Ramblers.
Wilkins got four and Tilbrook two for Ensign, while Williams was on target for Ramblers in their success. Southchurch dropped to third place, being overtaken by a Shoebvury Town side who won 2-0 at Brit Athletic thanks to Blake and Lepage.
In the Reserve Division, Ensign are also flying the flag. They came back from a 2-0 interval defecit to win 3-2 at Leigh Ramblers - G Benson, Lansley and S Cops scoring.
Southchurch Hall kept up the pressure with a 2-1 win over Thorpe Athletic, Sims and Lamb being on target.
Old Rochfordians still lead the way in Division One after winning 5-0 at Old Rochfordians. Hensey and Godfrey both grabbed braces, while Westcliff Amateur had Shepherd tending his flock in fine style as they stayed second with a 2-1 success at rivals Thorpe Athletic.
The Second Division leaders, World Aviation, were out of action but stay top. However, Airborne have moved level with them after beating Southend Rangers 10-2 away thanks to a vintage seven-goal show from Wines.
Flightspares were 8-3 winners over Thames Park 2nd in Division Three with Butler serving up a six-goal special. Leigh Ramblers 3rd, lying second, also managed an eight-goal haul with opponents Weir Sports only managing two in reply. Davies grabbed a trio here with twin-goal strikes from both Cater and Pond.
Not such a good day for the Division Four top dogs. Leaders Heath Sports were held 2-2 at Shoebury Old Boys 2nd, while second-ploaced Leigh Times crashed 5-1 at home to Southend Rangers 2nd with Geater scoring three.
Parsons Barn, the Division Five leaders, lost again when they went down 4-2 at home to Collegians 3rd. International PMS, their nearest rivals, missed out on the chance of making up ground when they were held 2-2 by Catholic 4th. It could have been worse for International as they were 2-0 down at the break.
There was a change at the top of Division Six where Brook Sports leapfrogged over previous leaders Landwick when they beat them 2-0. Ridley was the man to brew up trouble with a double.
S Blake grabbed a hat-trick and Brazier two as International PMS 2nd moved closer with a 5-2 win over their Parsons Barn counterparts in a rather bad-tempered affair.
