In the Premier Division of the Southend Table Tennis League, electric team RESSC B have not been the brightest of sparks in their last two games.
They were crushed 8-1 by both Rawreth A and Canvey A. George Reeves and Chris Nunn both grabbed hat-tricks for Rawreth, while Ray Murphy and Eve Lucas were the maximum stars for Canvey, who are climbing the table now.
In Division One, Rawreth D beat leaders Invicta A 5-4 thanks to a hat-trick from ex-England international Stuart Gibbs, who was in sparkling form with a hat-trick.
Southend Police scraped a 5-4 victory over Invicta B with Mike Grout and Dave Guest grabbing braces for the boys in blue.
Whittingham beat fellow strugglers Rochford 5-4, but none of the Whits could beat Jan Thorpe, who scored a fine maximum.
Dave Kislingbury guided his Invicta C team to a 5-4 win at Lentern, being unbeaten in the process.
In Division Three, Canvey C 2nd beat beat top of the table Forum C 6-3. Bob Shingleton Smith, Linda Murray and Pat Murray all scored two wins each in a fine team performance, but none of the Islanders could beat wily old campaigner Ray Eley.
John Aukett scored a hat-trick for RESSC E as the electric team stung the Scorpions 6-3.
In Division Four, the two bottom teams battled it out as Hullbridge G just got the better of Customs C 5-4 thanks mainly to Andrew Morris, who got a deserved maximum.
At the top end, leaders St Peter's scraped a 5-4 victory over second-placed Hullbridge F.
Harold Soundy and Laurie Neville scored a brace apiece for Saints.
