Pub landlords Peter and Barbara Amos have handed over more than £23,000 for cancer relief - thanks to a family gift.

The money was left to Macmillan Cancer Relief by Barbara's aunt Hilda Brown who died of cancer aged 86.

Barbara, who has run The Red Lion in St Osyth with her husband for 17 years, said: "I am delighted Macmillan Cancer Relief will benefit in such a positive way as the gift from my aunt will help benefit the services of Macmillan and in particular, more nursing posts."

The cheque for a total of £23,695.27 was presented to Christopher Holmes, the county chairman of Macmillan Cancer Relief.

He said: "The money that has been given will ease the lives of cancer patients and their families."
