There is one Ipswich Town player who will be glad to see the back of the club's orange away strip at the end of the season.

While the votes are being cast by fans for their choice of kit for next year, player-coach Tony Mowbray is glad none of them are orange.

Mowbray has scored two own goals - at Crystal Palace and in Sunday's game at Birmingham City - while wearing the club's change kit and he reckons it's becoming a bit of a curse.

He joked: "The lads in the dressing room were ribbing me because every time we wear orange I score - but it's not always in the right end.

"I scored up at Blackburn when we drew earlier in the season but since then I've put two in the wrong net."

But Town recovered from the setback to come away with a vital point after David Johnson rediscovered his goal touch on the stroke of half-time.

It meant they leapfrogged promotion rivals Manchester City in the race for the Premiership and Mowbray believes the club's destiny is in their own hands.

He said: "We've moved back up the table and now it's all down to us to hold our nerve and keep on winning matches.

"We've shown we can adapt to playing all kinds of team by getting a point up at Birmingham, but we could have had all three.

"They are a very strong, physical outfit and it is important to match sides like that if you want to keep on picking up points.

"Even though we felt we did enough to win the game this was a fixture we lost last season so I think we have come on a little bit."

One cause for concern is an injury to fellow centre half John McGreal.

The former Tranmere Rovers player has split the medial ligament in his knee and is a major doubt for Saturday's home game against relegation-threatened Portsmouth.
