Colchester's top athlete Sarah Claxton picked up a bronze medal in her latest outing in Birmingham.
Claxton, 20, was competing in the National AAA's Indoor Championships at the National Indoor Arena.
She took part in both the 110m hurdles and the long jump - which proved to be a bit of a tight schedule. Claxton had to miss one of her attempts at the long jump in order to compete in the hurdles.
Her first jump was a distance of 5.83m before she had to rush off to the hurdles.
She recorded her best time in the heats when she beat Essex rival Julie Pratt in 8.43 sesconds.
But she was unable to carry her form through to the finals. In a tough race Claxton could only manage to finish in fifth place.
However, she did not come away empty handed. Despite feeling the effects of her exertions on the track, she came back to grab third place in the long jump with a distance of 6.19m.
Claxton now has her sights set on reaching the qualifying standard for the Olympics.
