A driver was airlifted to hospital after a four-car accident.
The crash happened on the A414 Spital Road just outside Maldon between the Safeway roundabout and Limebrook Stables.
Scott Anderson, of the Hythe, Maldon, was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford by Essex Air Ambulance after firefighters cut him free from the red Vauxhall Astra he was driving.
He suffered head, face and knee injuries but they were not thought to be life-threatening.
Allen Chaplin, 49, of Stapleford Close, Chelmsford, who was driving a white Mitsubishi Galant, Reg Williams, 59, of Linnet Drive, Chelmsford, who was the driver of a blue Vauxhall Astra and Vauxhall Cavalier driver Michael Rees, 50, of Gloucester Avenue, Maldon, were all uninjured.
The accident happened around 3.45pm on Friday evening and the road was closed for and hour-and-a-half.
