A teacher has resigned from the 1,700-pupil Colbayns High School, Clacton, following an allegation that he "roughly handled" two children.
The member of staff , who has not been named, was suspended In November but has since decided to leave the school.
Nick Pavitt, Colbayns headteacher, said: "He was suspended from teaching duties pending a full internal investigation into allegations of rough handling of two pupils.
"Before the investigation was completed the school received a resignation from that member of staff which has been accepted.
"The teacher has now left the school and, as a result, the investigation has been discontinued."
