Help and advice is on the doorstep for people looking to get their lives back on track - thanks to the opening of a drop-in centre in Vange.
The centre, believed to be the first of its kind in south Essex, offers information and advice on getting back to work, kicking drug and alcohol habits and claiming benefits. But the flat in Ryedene Close will not be a rehabilitation centre for addicts.
Housing association Shape offers temporary homes for single people on the estate and this new service will help them get back to living independently.
John Robb, chief executive of Basildon Council, which is one of the agencies involved in the scheme, was at the centre's launch. From next week staff will be on hand each Wednesday afternoon at 83 Ryedene Close, Vange.
Cup of hope - Mandy Morris and Barbara Horne, who will run the drop-in centre, with John Robb at the centre's opening
