Former Southend United soccer ace Tony Hadley was Captain Richard Campbell-Carr's choice as Rochford Hundred's golfer of the year at the club's presentation night on Monday.
Hadley, who played for Blues in the late '70s and '80s, was named after his superb round of 65 equalled Rochford's amateur course record.
Several players ran him close, including Neil Cochran, who won the senior championship and picked up two other trophies.
But Campbell-Carr admitted:"At the end of the day Tony's magnificent round could not be ignored - it's not every year that we get a score like that."
Rochford Ladies held a Stableford competition with Rosemarie Gemmell romping home in the silver division. Her 35 points was far too hot for second-placed Jo Rumsey (30), with Lyanne Loveday pipping Sue Proctor for third spot on countback after they both finished with 28.
Bronze success was enjoyed by Sue Packer with 32 points ahead of Tina Dye (29), with Sue Clarke's better back nine securing third place from Joan Parr after both notched 28.

Sand hazards no problem for Mike The sands of time certainly didn't run out for Basildon Golf Club professional Mike Oliver and his newtown-based amateur team when they competed in the Dubai World Pro-am 2000.
For, while Oliver picked up the top individual prize with a three-round 99 Stableford points total, his squad of Fred Francis, plus father and son Peter and Gary Hammond, collected the pro-am team honours with scores of 85, 78 and 80.
Oliver's scores broke down to 30, 36 and 33, and he collected a winning cheque of £1,000. His team also walked off with crystal glass prizes and Oliver said: "We really enjoyed it and managed some good golf between us.
"We play as a team fairly regularly in pro-ams, and enjoyed some success in France last year. We like to try and find somewhere warm to play at this time of year - it makes a break from the British winter.
"The facilities out there and the course are absolutely tremendous. The event is played over two courses, the Emirates and Dubai Creek, and both will be used for the big European Tour event being played over there in the Spring.
"It's really strange to see so much sand - the two courses are the only green out there - but it makes a lovely setting for golf, and for myself to win the pro event and then my team take the pro-am was a tremendous feeling."
Now Oliver and his crew want more of the same and have already made tentative plans to return to defend their crowns next year.

Mark of success in midweek medal
Mark Kelynack took the Hanover Georgian course midweek medal in convincing style.
Kelynack (19) had a superb gross 39 inward half to thank for a net seven-under-par total of 66 and a three-stroke victory.
Colin O'Halloran (21) claimed runners-up spot on countback, with Charlton goalkeeper Simon Royce behind in third spot.
On the Hanover Regency course, April Johnson (19) took the LGU monthly medal with net 63, while Diane Blood collected the Stableford on 39 points.
New idea for pairs Silver ladies
Southend Golf Club introduced a new competition when they staged a pairs' Stableford aggregate event.
In this latest venture - unlike betterball - each player's Stableford score was recorded, and the two playing partners' totals were added together on each hole.
Victory went to Leslie Wood team members Calvin Williams (42) and Mark Facey (36) on 78, from the very impressive Roy Thomas (43) and Dave Seymour (34) who were one behind.
In-form Lee Winsor (41) and Chris Baker (32) were third on 73, with Ron Edwards (38) and Mick Burch (33) fourth on 71.
Fearn finishes first - just!
The silver division monthly Stableford at Ballards Gore Ladies went to Vivien Fearn on countback from Carole Swaffer. Both had 29 points.
Barbara O'Brien won the bronze prize on 34 points from Pat Spraggs (29). The four-club Stableford went to Jan Hooper (32) from Pat Spraggs (26).
Vivien Fearn's latest success came straight after her silver medal success with a net 76. Jan Hooper was runner-up on 80. The bronze division went to Moya Menning on net 82 from Barbara Steven (84).
The Stableford was restricted to nine holes due to bad weather. Wendy Ross won, with Pat Roberts runner-up on countback from Gilian Lang.
