A man was treated in hospital after a vicious attack in a Kelvedon bar.
The young man, who has yet to be identified, suffered what police described as "severe facial injuries" during the assault, at the Angel Hotel. He was attacked by two men.
The incident took place at closing time at the hotel in St Mary's Square. The attack happened on January 15, at 11.45pm but details of the incident have only just been released by police.
Police spokesman PC Mick Hall said: "The victim lost several teeth in the attack and suffered a lot of bruising and a black eye.
"As with any head injuries they were treated as serious and he was kept in hospital overnight but allowed home the next day."
PC Hall said two people had been questioned in connection with the incident but later released. Police are continuing with their investigation.
He added: "We need witnesses who saw anything either inside the pub or outside to come forward."
Anyone with information should contact PC Martin Larner at Witham police station on 01376 501212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
