Bold plans to move Braintree Town Football Club to a new home have been scuppered.
Club bosses have been looking at an alternative site, but talks came to an end after chairman George Rosling discovered a mystery buyer had snapped up the vacant site - believed to be the former Crittall Sports Ground on Springwood Drive.
Rosling said the Ryman League division one club would now be staying at its Cressing Road base.
He added: "We have had low-key discussions about the possibility of moving to another site but the talks have ended. We are very happy to stay at Cressing Road but I wouldn't be doing my job as chairman if I didn't look into this opportunity."
He said attention would now be turned to extending the clubhouse later this year.
