Superdrug has set a date for its move up Colchester High Street to the former John Menzies store.
The former newsagents has been bought for £3.6 million from insurance giants Royal Sun Alliance, and will be split into two shops.
Superdrug is taking over 11,600 square feet of the store with entrances on both High Street and Culver Street East.
A small shop, fronting Culver Street East, will be created from the remainder.
Final details of the £2 million redevelopment are still being worked out with planners, but Superdrug hopes to be open for business in November.
A spokeswoman for developers Chartwell Land said another company was being lined up for Superdrug's current store, and the smaller shop was being marketed.
