A grandfather wants a missing teenager to get in touch.

Danny Carroll, 18, of Hill Road, Dovercourt, was last heard of on January 12.

Grandfather Alan Carroll says the disappearance is totally out of character.

Police are also concerned about Danny, who went missing after going to London for a one-day health and safety course.

He had travelled from Dovercourt by train, then rang home in the evening to say he would be staying with his girlfriend at her home in Stowmarket and would return the next day.

He has not been seen or heard from since.

All that is known about Danny's girlfriend is that her name is Melanie, she is a carer, and she drives a grey Austin Metro, possibly with green L-plates.

Mr Carroll said Danny's father was going to give him a job in data cabling, and the London course was to give him the necessary qualifications.

He had taken all the up-to-date photos of himself to the course, so the family has none to give to police to help them trace him.

Mr Carroll asked Danny to get in touch, "just to let me know he is OK and that goes for his mother and father as well."

Danny is medium to heavy build with light brown short hair and a goatee beard.

He was last seen wearing black trousers, a dark blue shirt, black shoes and a green and tan reversible jacket.
