Chelmsford Highway Ladies Hockey Club were crowned the National Indoor Champions at the Chaswell Leisure Centre in Worcester at the weekend.

After coming second for the last three years they turned the tables on last year's winners Slough to clinch the title on goal difference.

For a fuller account see 'Women's hockey: Indoor title success for Chelmsford' in Local Sport After winning four and losing one of their games, Chelmsford faced an agonising wait as their nearest rivals played at the final matches but failed to achieve the targets set by the Essex side who lifted the trophy for the first time in the clubs history.

Lynn Bollington, who has been a member of the Chelmsford team for close on 20 years, said: ''it has been a long wait for us to win the title, but I am now delighted to at last have been presented with a gold medal for being part of a National Indoor Championship winning team''.
