A woman who is donating a kidney to help her sick husband went into surgery today.
June Seymour, of Villa Road, Stanway, offered to donate a kidney to her husband Mike, 53, who has been waiting for a transplant for more than three years.
The pair were admitted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge on Monday to prepare them for surgery.
And the couple were taken into the operating theatre at around 9am today.
Mr Seymour was diagnosed with polcystic kidney disease more than three years ago and he now needs kidney dialysis three times a day.
Mrs Seymour, 55, asked to donate a kidney and was found to be a match for him.
