Police have formally closed their investigation into a tragic car accident.

Toddler Fahmed Choudhury is still in a coma after he was hit by a car outside his home in Kings Road, Chelmsford.

Little Fahmed, who was two at the time of the accident in August, is in Broomfield Hospital - his condition shows little sign of improvement.

PC Elliott Zagger from Chelmsford traffic police was in charge of the investigation.

He said: "There's a bit of change in his condition but they think he's always going to be severely brain damaged. He does react when he's got company.

"As far as we're concerned the investigation is all finished and it's in the process of being submitted this week to our accident information centre."

Two eye-witnesses had come forward to help with the investigation and confirmed what the police had originally thought.

"They saw exactly what happened. Unfortunately he just ran out in front of the car," said PC Zagger.

Fahmed was revived at the scene of the accident by a neighbour and was rushed to Broomfield Hospital.

He was then transferred to Guy's Hospital in London where he spent months fighting for his life before returning to Chelmsford.
