Ipswich Town are to recall Colchester United's on-loan defender Titus Bramble at the end of the month.
Town boss George Burley today confirmed the 19-year-old central defender is needed back at Portman Road because of an injury to Manuel Thetis.
Bramble, who has made two appearances for the U's, will play his final game for the U's at Reading on January 29.
Burley said: "I have spoken to Steve Whitton and told him I will need to have Titus back at the end of the month. We have a few injury problems and with Manuel Thetis currently out of action we are short of defensive cover."
U's boss Whitton added: "I have spoken to George and he wants Titus back at Ipswich. I can understand that because he's a very good player and he wants him challenging for a first team place."
Town have taken two players on trial after a move for Crystal Palace ace Mathias Svensson collapsed. Frenchman Patrice Maurel, 21, and Soren Frederiksen, 27, both arrived at Portman Road today for a week-long trial.
