Southend District League: Thundersley roll over Orient men

Last season's runners-up Thundersley and Hadleigh are back in second spot in the Southend District League Premier Division.

They triumphed 4-1 over previous holders of that position, Canvey Orient, to leapfrog over them thanks to Waddison, Harrian, Luck and an own goal., Peacock replied.

Leaders Linford Wanderers remain unbeaten as they beat Parma Sports 6-2 with J Davies grabbing a hat-trick.

Rochford Town, lying fifth, kept up their challenge with a 3-1 win over Steelers, thanks to Ames, Johnson and Holyland.

Another team climbing the table are AFC Horndon. They moved up to eighth when they beat Blackgate Gunners 9-1 with Elbourne scoring three. There were two goal strikes for both Rogers and Hornsby.

Cricketers Horndon went seventh after beating out-of-form Sixty Acres 2-1 thanks to Ward and Abiz.

In Division One, top team Hockley and Hawkwell clung onto their lead after beating Blackgate Gunners 2nd 2-1 thanks to Wade and an own goal.

Enterprise Athletic are still second after their 6-1 win over CUACO with Grace grabbing a hat-trick.

However, Thundersley Rovers are hot on their heels with games in hand after a 5-2 win over Wickford Rangers. Woods scored two for the winning side.

The top three are starting to open up a gap in Division Three. Unbeaten Belvedere beat Hockley and Hawkwell Reserves 7-0 with Sargent earning his stripes with a hat-trick. Perkins and Newton grabbed two apiece.

Second team Stanford Wanderers are still unbeaten and they overcame Rochford Town 3rd 7-0 with South pointing them in the right direction with a hat-trick.

Third-placed Linford Wanderers Reserves had two goals from D Talbot to thank for a 4-3 win over Kuka Sports, immediately below them.

Southend Sunday League: Town are streets ahead of Avenue

Town came out on top of Avenue in the two Rayleigh clashes in the Southend Sunday League at the weekend.

In their Premier Division clash, Town came out on top 7-0 with Clarke, Stevens, Barr, Murry, Thompson, Archer and Sims all among the scorers.

Then, in Division Five, the two sides met again at reserve level and Town won this one 2-1 thanks to Sayers and Thompson. Allen replied.

Kings Field Casuals and Southend United Supporters Club fought out a real classic in the Charity Cup Section A third round.

Ther two teams shared ten goals after extra-time before Casuals won on penalties.

In round two of the Section C League Cup, both Patient and Shearer scored hat-tricks as Rochford Sports 2nd beat Thames Park 7-0.

Back in the Premier Division, Hughes grabbed a goal trio as Wheatleys won 5-1 at Trinity.

Hodgson was another hat-trick star, scoring his three for Spartek in a 5-0 win over Hullbridge Sports in Division One.

Spear got a treble for Fairfax United in Division Two, but his side lost 4-3 to Sutton Sports with S Newland grabbing two for the winners.

L Slatford netted four as Hullbridge Sports 2nd won 8-1 over their Trinity counterparts in Division Two.

Olympus had S Reeve's trio to thank for their 5-2 Division Four win at Sporting Benfleet.

Gunners shot down Rochford United 6-3 in Division Five thanks to a L Whitford hat-trick.

Worswick's trio helped Panthers VOB beat Thundersley Rovers 2nd 7-0.

Trevill helped Eagles win 8-0 at Fairweay Eagles with four goals.

Kursaal Flyers grounded Vichouse Sports 2nd 8-2 with McDonald and Fragneto both scoring three.

Brand grabbed a hat-trick as Chateau beat Dionysus 6-2 in Division Eight.

SE Essex Sunday League:Boys at their best

Old Island Boys A arguably produced the performance of the week as the South-East Essex Sunday League enjoyed a weekend of exciting knockout cup football.

Old Island, runaway leaders of Division One, entertained trophy favourites Castle Point, of the Premier Division, at Waterside Farm.

The Old Island side are an extremely talented set of young footballers who are making their mark in men's football. Their early pressure put Castle Point on the back foot and yielded two own goals.

Darren Godfrey hauled his side back into the tie with two great strikes before Evans popped up with the Canvey side's winner.

Another Division One side disposing of Premier Division opposition was Benfleet, who knocked out Hanningfield 1-0 thanks to an effort from Kemp.

Simco v Runwell Raiders looked to be the pick of the round as third entertained top in an all Premier clash.

The game lived up to its billing with a highly entertaining quality match ending 2-2 after 90 minutes. Blackaby and Watkins netted for Simco with Mead and Whitney on target for Runwell.

In the additional 30 minutes, top dogs Runwell showed their strength with goals from Roach and Jones to win 4-2.

Another all Premiership tie saw ISIS travel to Haystack. ISIS had won at the Canvey pub side a fortnight earlier, but Haystack's good cup traditions continued when they triumphed 4-1, Burns scoring two.

Division Two leaders Rayford Town fancied their chances of causing an upset against Premier side Red Star, but were always chasing the game after conceding two early goals.

Red Star won 6-2 with Mongioui grabbing a hat-trick. Another Second Division side, Dunamus, also lost 6-2 to Premier opposition in the shape of CISK.

Thorogood scored two for the winners. Wickbeech made it into the hat for the third round draw when they beat Division One rivals Enterprise Athletic 5-2.

Vange Sunday League: Davis at the double

Two goals from Davis helped Holmes to a 2-1 success over Barnhall in the Vange Sunday League's Challenge Cup third round.

In the Premier Division, both Greeves and Hodgson had 3-1 home successes - Armleon and Langdon Hills being their respective victims.

Sorrell led the way in Division One with four for Signet in a 9-0 win over Hodgson A. Clarke grabbed a hat-trick. Another trio star was Stevens, who got his three for Eastbury, who beat St George 5-3 away.

Pereira and Murrey were both twin-strike heroes as Broadmayne saw off Greeves A 5-1, while Dennett got the vital lone goal when Linford Wanderers saw off Wollaston 1-0.
