Mixed League First Division
After a tie in their opening fixture in the Basildon Badminton Association's Mixed League First Division, Linden A's unbeaten performance in the Rayleigh Park encounter gives them a two-point lead over Waterside A.
With three points each, averages rank Grange A and Rayleigh Park third and fourth respectively with Barstable A bringing up the rear.

2, Waterside A (Sandy Woolacott and Trevor Harris) beat Barstable A 21-6; beat Rayleigh Park 21-20.
3, Grange A (Linda Holohan and David Chittock) beat Waterside A 21-16; beat Barstable A 21-20.
4, Rayleigh Park (Maria Davies and Tony Wheatley) beat Barstable A 21-11; beat Grange A 21-16.
5, Barstable A (Tracey Letts and Richard Hart) no wins.
Mixed League Third Division
The oversized Third Division (mixed) witnessed a new name at the top when the fixture at Barstable was completed. Waterside B sneaked above Barstable C by a single point as the result of an unbeaten evening.
Hockley leapt up to third place, leading Barstable D on averages. Also, with three points each, Barstable B, Waterside C and Barstable E are also ranked on averages.
No such calculations were needed to rank Barstable's F pair, who are still to register their first win.
Results: 1, Waterside B (Chris and John Whalebone) beat Barstable E 21-8; beat Hockley 21-19; beat Barstable D 21-9; beat Barstable F 21-2.
2, Barstable E (David Burley and Gilly Kite) beat Barstable F 21-18; beat Barstable D 21-19; beat Hockley 21-16.
3, Hockley (Jenny True and James Botton) beat Barstable D 21-15; beat Barstable F 21-14.
4, Barstable D (Arun Sharma and Alix Chamberlain) beat Barstable F 21-18.
5, Barstable F (Andrew Millie and Lisa Bigg) - no wins.
Ladies League First Division
The Ladies League third division fixture at Lake Meadows was a near disaster with only three of the five sides turning up.
This resulted in penalty points for the absentees and walkover wins for the others. A complicated situation ended with Lake Meadows A and Barstable B at the top with seven wins each - Meadows taking precedence.
Close behind come Linden C, who have played more matches, and they are followed by Lake Meadows B.
The two absentees, B and BP and Stanford-le-Hope, are at fifth and sixth and now lag well behind.
Results: 1, Lake Meadows A (Alison Stevens and Wendy Marsh) beat B and BP 21-0; beat Stanford-le-Hope 21-0; beat Lake Meadows B 21-2; beat Linden C 21-3.
2, Linden C (Tracy Gravely and Dawn Shrimpton) beat B and BO 21-0; beat Lake Meadows B 21-15; beat Stanford-le-Hope 21-0.
3, Lake Meadows B (Rebecca Parodi and Kathy Burley) beat Stanford-le-Hope 21-0; beat B and BP 21-0.
4 and 5, B and BP and Stanford-le-Hope - no wins for either, both earn penalty points.
