Topcounty golfers competed in the first Pro-Am Alliance for 2000 at the Essex Golf & Country Club, Earls Colne at the weekend.
Despite a short delay to the start, due to a heavy overnight ground frost, 17 teams started with each team consisting of one professional and three amateurs.
The winners, with a score of 138, eight under par, were Terry Moncur, professional at the Langdon Hill Golf Club, with amateurs, John Moncur, John Moncur and Kevin Delaney.
Second, with 140 points, were Mark Spooner, professional at the host ing Essex Golf and Country Club, along with amateurs, Eddie Shah, David Clarke and Gerry Spooner.
In third place was Graham Burroughs, professional at Boyce Hill Golf Club and his amateur trio of Terry Croker, Tony Martin and Ricky Hatton.
The amateurs' longest drive was won by Ben Slater, from the Colchester Golf Club while the nearest to the pin prize was won by Terry Crocker (Boyce Hill).
