Runwell Raiders took advantage of Castle Point's inactivity to register the win required to take them to the top of the South-East Essex Sunday League Premier Division table.
A 5-3 success at Red Star put them three points clear of Castle Point, who have two games in hand.
Brian Roach grabbed a hat-trick for the Raiders, while Blackaby and Pollard were on target for Simco, well clear in third spot following a 2-0 success at Zach Willsher.
Old Island Boys A continued their seemingly unstoppable march on the Division One title when they went to second-from-bottom Callback A and won 10-0. P Bartley, T Evans and Dilliway grabbed two goals apiece.
Old Boys' nearest rivals Rook Sports, nine points behind from two games less, crushed bottom club Enterprise Athletic 9-0 with Hurd grabbing seven.
Delta Dynamics, bottom of Division Two, achieved something they failed to do throughout 1999 when they started the new century by picking up a point. They drew 3-3 with Old Island Boys B, just above them, with O'Brien scoring two for Delta.
In the Division Two divisional cup, League leaders Rayford Town beat Venables 2-1 thanks to a Smith penalty and Layzell's strike. Dunamus got through after extra-time at Canterbury Harriers - Neville and Sturgeon scoring in a 2-0 success.
