Southend District League: Canvey set their sights after gunning down Blackgate

Canvey Orient kept up their challenge in the Premier Division of the Southend District League when a 4-2 win at bottom club Blackgate Gunners kept them in second spot.

Peacock, S Perry, Whitley and Woodford got the winning side's goals. Thundersley and Hadleigh, lying fourth, drew 2-2 with third-placed Sparkbridge.

Armada Sports kept up their revival with a 4-3 win at Cricketers Horndon, Drury and Drew scoring two apiece.

Two goals from Chaplin helped seventh-placed Corinthians beat Rochford Town Reserves, lying fourth, 7-3. Top team Hockley and Hawkwell, despite a Hammond double, lost 4-2 to CUACO. Gillam grabbed a hat-trick for the winners.

Hockley and Hawkwell Reserves put Middleway rock bottom of Division Two with a 6-3 win in which Tanner scored two. Steelers Reserves and Chase drew 1-1.

In the first round of the Centenary Cup, Premier Division Parma Sports thrashed Second Division Kuka Sports 8-1 with Weedon scoring four and Pilley three.

Second round action saw Premier side Sixty Acres squeeze home 3-2 over Division One Wickford Rangers, for whom Catlin grabbed a brace. Delieu, Saunders and Slater got the winning side's goals.

In the first round of the French Cup, a goal from Hornsby was enough to give AFC Horndon a 1-0 win at Steelers.

The second round of the Ramuz Cup saw March hare in with a hat-trick as Blackgate Gunners Reserves beat Rayleigh 6-2. P Madden scored two.

Thundersley Rovers, with Effreme scoring two, saw off Enterprise Athletic 4-0.

Sanders Cup first round action saw Belvedere beat Stanford Wanderers 3-1. Turnage, Perkins and Brown got the winning side's goals.

In round two, Kirkham went nap with five goals as Bicknacre beat Parma Sports Reserves 8-1. Annal's brace added to the romp.

Breaking through - this Southend Academicals player beats off challenges from CZ 81 rivals, but the Canvey based side won the Southend Sunday League Premier Division One match 1-0 with a goal from T Morson.

Basildon Sunday League: Pitsea Bull charge into Essex Junior Cup final

Basildon Sunday League Pitsea Bull are through to the area final of the Essex Sunday Junior Cup after a 2-1 win over William de Ferrers.

A last-minute goal from Nicholls was enough to see them through to a final date with Castle Rangers, who beat Great Knightleys 2-1.

In the Senior Division, Crouch went nap against York with Brown and Feaby scoring two apiece.

Basildon Irish Club were celebrating in the Premier Division when four goals from R Walden, and a Bird double, took them to a 7-3 win at Vange and Pitsea WMC.

Hebbs' hat-trick helped Lee Chapel win 6-2 at York in Division One, while Norman was the Division Two goal trio star as Wickford Town 4th beat Rettendon Reserves 5-1.

Essex Intermediate League: League woe for Rayleigh

Rayleigh Town came a cropper in their Essex Intermediate League senior division one game at Frenford Senior, crashing 6-3 with goals from Taylor, Rich and Thompson. Victory allowed Frenford to move up to second place.

Runwell Hospital picked up only their third point of the season, and remain bottom, after a goalless draw at home to third-placed Kelvedon Hatch.

Benfleet slumped to a 2-1 defeat at second-placed Harold Wood Athletic in senior division two, while Basildon Town went down 1-0 at Port of London.

Stambridge gave themselves a boost up the senior division three table when goals from Vuckomanic (2), Young and Carata saw them home 4-1 over Coggeshall.

Frith scored for Chalvedon, but they still went down 2-1 at second-placed Upminster.

In the Senior League Cup third round, Laindon Athletic lost 5-3 at home to Bishop's Stortford Swifts after extra-time. Smith (2) and Fairchild got the goals.

In the Reserve League Cup, Rayleigh Town won 2-1 with goals from Mills and Field.

Southend Sunday League: Town fly the Rayleigh flag as Avenue crash

Rayleigh Town are continuing to carry the Southend Sunday League banner in the Essex Sunday Intermediate Cup.

A goal from Barr earned them a 1-0 success at Brannigans in a fourth round tie, but near neighbours Rayleigh Avenue squandered a 3-0 lead before losing 4-3 to Sceptre League Aspect Sports in round three.

Things were even worse for Trinity at the same stage as they crashed 8-0 at Maypole.

In the County Junior Cup round five, Shoebury Old Boys won 3-1 at Spartek with Mahoney, Hallett and Martin scoring.

S Lloyd's hat-trick helped Vichouse Sports win 6-1 at Armada Sports Reserves in the Essex Sunday Junior Trophy fifth round. In round six, South Benfleet United and North Bank United fought out a 6-6 extra-time draw with North Bank winning on penalties.

In the League, Rochford Town Sports had four goals from Lepage to thank for their 6-2 win at Southend United Supporters Club. Lodge Athletic and Oakwood Sports fought out a 3-3 draw, while Wheatleys won 4-1 at Kings Field Casuals.

In Division One Canewdon and Hullbridge Sports fought out a 4-4 draw with G Ralph scoring two for Canewdon and Palmer taking the biscuit with a brace for Hullbridge.

Waddingham's trio took Fairfax United to a 6-4 win over Graphic in Division Two, while S Constantine got two as Mill Sports 2nd saw off Eastwood Falcons 3-1 in Division Three.

There were plenty of goals in Division Four. Phillips was electric with a hat-trick for Blenheim Wanderers as they won 7-3 at Thundersley Rovers, for whom Tigwell grabbed a trio.

Cook's hat-trick plus braces for Beavis and Hierons helped Rochford Sports 2nd overcome Woodland Old Boys 7-4.

Biggest win of the day came in Division Eight where Progress United really lived up to their name by slaughtering hosts Kings Field Casuals 3rd 22-1.
