More than 4,500 children in north east Essex are eligible for immunisation from meningitis C.
Since November 17, more than 4,000 children between 15 and 17 were given the jab by Essex Rivers Healthcare Trust at schools and colleges.
But a further 4,695 youngsters are eligible.
As a result Health teams will be visiting hospitals in the area in the next month.
Dr Richard Doyle, associate specialist in community child care, said: "Many of the young people who have not yet been immunised are those who have already left school.
"There are also others who have not yet returned the consent form offered in schools and colleges.
"However 16 and 17-year-olds who have moved into the area in the last two years might not be known to us but we have sufficient vaccine stocks for everyone eligible."
