A new kind of home improvement company will bring more than 100 jobs to Braintree when it opens in the town.
The Lighthouse Remodeling company is recruiting local people for its telephone call centre at Warners Mill, in South Street.
So far, 28 people have been employed for its launch on Monday and the company is keen to get more on board.
This is its first enterprise but plans are already in the pipeline to create call centres in other parts of the country by the year 2001.
The company claims to offer a unique approach for DIY enthusiasts by supplying all types of products rather than specialising in just one.
Initially it will offer windows and conservatories but once up and running aims to supply a complete range from swimming pools to kitchens.
The company also offers a range of its own unique brands to customers such as maintenance-free traditional wooden windows.
Its Braintree base will provide a telephone service for customers in Colchester, Bishop's Stortford, Harlow and Ipswich.
Managing director Nigel Orrin said: "We choose to base ourselves in Braintree because it's a great place and central to so many towns in the county.
"It is the best location."
