Ipswich Town defender Gary Croft is expected to make an appearance for the reserves in Wednesday's reserve team game at Portman Road against Gillingham.

Croft, 25, was released from prison yesterday after serving just one month of a four-month sentence for committing a string of driving offences.

The former Blackburn Rovers player has been electronically tagged as part of the terms of his release but this will not stop him from appearing in a Town shirt.

Town return to England tonight after a four-day break in Tenerife and boss George Burley and reserve team manager Dale Roberts will make a decision on Croft in the morning.

The player is desperate to put his troubles behind him and released a statement which read: "Now is the time to focus on my future and foremost my profession.

"It is a profession that has brought me a very good life and one I now guard and cherish with utmost protection.

"Never again shall I put it at risk. There is now simply nothing more important to me than playing football again."

"Fortunately for me I feel it's with the best footballing side of the First Division and one with great pride and tradition. I hope one day to add to his pride myself."
