A motorist was taken to hospital with spinal injuries yesterday after his car apparently skidded on ice and overturned.
The accident happened on a bridge on the A133 between Frating and Great Bromley at about 9am.
Essex Air Ambulance was called but the victim was taken by ordinary ambulance to Colchester General Hospital with "minor" injuries.
Peter Mylam, who lives nearby, said: "I saw a black car overturned at the bottom of the embankment."
An ambulance spokesman said: "It seemed quite serious at first but turned out to be minor."
A separate accident, on the A120 near the Crown Interchange, caused lengthy delays. The driver had slight injuries.
