Builders and architects have less than a week to get their entries ready for Southend Council's annual design awards.
The coveted scheme was launched six years ago in a bid to recognise and encourage a better level of design in buildings across the town.
The two categories available cover new developments, and conservation projects aimed at returning heritage buildings back to their former glory.
A panel of judges made up of architects, town planners and heritage experts will judge the entries and decide if they are worthy of winning a category or should receive a commendation.
Last year, the Audi car showroom in Comet Way, Eastwood, won the best designed new building category for its innovative and eco-friendly design.
The Rowallan Group along with designers John H Brerely Design Associates won a conservation commendation in 1999 for restoring the Kursaal pleasure palace.
For details contact group manager for design and regeneration Martin Brady (COR) on 01702 215402. (01702 215402)
