A mosaic for the millennium created by pupils and teachers was unveiled at Priory School, Southend.
After much work to make the mosaic weatherproof, the work has been mounted on a wall outside the special school in Burr Hill Chase to commemorate the start of the new millennium, 2000.
Val Wathan, head teacher, said: "It was an idea that came from the children as they wanted to commemorate the year 2000 in a special way and decided on making individual mosaics."
The individual efforts of pupils and staff was put together into the finished work made up of four panels, unveiled by former long serving teacher Joan Clark who worked at the school for 25 years.
