A teenager is being treated for serious injuries after he was attacked at a convenience store.
The 16-year-old victim was assaulted by a youth outside the Co-op in Kings Road, Chelmsford.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened just after 7.30pm on Thursday night, and are treating it as serious.
Officers were originally called to the store to deal with a separate incident but arrived to find that the assault had happened. A second police car was sent to the scene.
An ambulance arrived to take the injured teenager to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, where he is being treated this morning. The extent and nature of his injuries have not been revealed by police.
