Southend sailor Tony Bullimore regained his sea legs for the opening of the 46th Boat Show at London's Earl's Court.
Tony, who is best known for his dramatic survival in a capsised boat, grew up in Southend before moving away.
More than 1,000 different types of craft with a total value of more than £85 million are expected to attract 170, 000 visitors.
