Two Chelmsford Ambulance paramedics helped four Chelmsford fire fighters rescue an 80-year-old woman from her blazing flat in Great Baddow on Thursday morning.
The woman was revived by oxygen given to her by Paul Whiting and Mike Richards of Chelmsford Ambulance station.
Mrs Lily Tabert was taken to intensive care at Broomfield Hospital.
A hospital spokesman said on Wednesday that Mrs Tabert was in a "stable" condition.
Four fire crews from White Watch, Chelmsford, Great Baddow and Ingatestone tackled the blaze in the first floor lounge at Tusser Court, Meadgate Avenue.
It is understood a three-bar electric fire was near the centre of the blaze in the Chelmsford Borough Council owned property.
Smoke and water affected neighbouring flats.
