Adam Dyer's heroes are neither Robin Hood or William Tell but the archers who won the day for England against the French at Agincourt.
The Brentwood school sixth former has just completed the challenging test to gain a coveted Red Badge as an under 18 archer in the Archery in Schools Scheme.
Adam's best score to date is 255 points from a possible 360.
He qualified for his under 15 Red Badge three years ago and, thanks to enthusiastic coaching by Wickford-based Derek Collyer, gets better each succeeding year.
Derek and his wife Muriel have been teaching archery at Brentwood school for 10 years and last year their pupils gained the honour of amassing the most badge points of any school archery club in Britain.
Derek, a member of the Pilgrim Archers, one of 40 active clubs in Essex, and former British Field champion, has been teaching 20 years.
