A woman was left shaken but unhurt after a brick was thrown through the window of her car.
The attack happened as she stopped at traffic lights on the junction of Shrub End Road and Norman Way, Shrub End, Colchester, at about 10.20pm last night.
Det Sgt Roy Clark, of Colchester police, said a brick was hurled through the back window of her car causing £100 damage.
"Fortunately no-one was injured but it could have been a lot nastier if someone was sitting in the back," he said.
Det Sgt Clark added: "No-one was seen, the brick just crashed through the back window."
