A doting dad has kept his promise - a year after offering his teenage daughter £3,000 to give up smoking.
Richard Amner, of Oxford Road, Rochford, even drew up an astonishing contract pledging to pay hard-up dancing teacher Louise, then 18, the cash over the year.
In the contract, Mr Amner, 50, said he wanted her to stop smoking because "I love you, gave you life and have no wish to throw it away".
She gave up smoking on New Year's Eve last year and has made it through the year as a non-smoker.
The deal was struck as Mr Amner gave up his 30-a-day habit which he had since school.
The contract contained a chilling warning to Louise, now 19, stating: "Should you break from the rules, not only will the money stop, but you will die."
He vowed to give her £100 at the end of January, £200 at the end of February and £300 at the end of April.
He also promised to put £30 into her bank account each week.
A cheque for £600 is thought to be winging its way to Louise, who teaches at the Hildale stage school, in Hockley, this New Year's Eve for sticking to the contract.
