Up to £50,000 is to be spent on placing two mini-roundabouts on a busy Dovercourt road.
Essex County Council has given the thumbs up for the work to begin within the next few weeks.
The roundabouts will be placed at the top of Laurel Avenue and Ainger Road where the residential streets meet Main Road.
Essex county councillor for the area, Les Double, welcomed the news.
He said: "I'm very glad to see the work coming to fruition. Road safety is definitely an issue there.
"If you've ever tried to get out of Ainger Road or Laurel Avenue, you'll know.
"You can't see if anything is coming out of Laurel Avenue.
"Roundabouts slow traffic down, but I think they do allow traffic to move.
"They will be there for the safety of all road users."
